Mechanism of Action:

Azoxystrobin and chlorothalonil, when combined in a fungicide, offer a dual mechanism of action to control fungal diseases. Azoxystrobin, a strobilurin, inhibits mitochondrial respiration in fungi, disrupting energy production. Chlorothalonil, a broad-spectrum contact fungicide, acts on the surface of plant leaves, preventing fungal spores from germinating. This combination provides both systemic (internal) protection with azoxystrobin and contact protection with chlorothalonil.

Application:

Azoxystrobin and Chlorothalonil, when combined in a fungicide, are typically applied as a foliar spray to control fungal diseases in crops. The application involves diluting the fungicide with water, then spraying the solution on the plant foliage, ensuring good coverage.
